A chance for the unrighteous?
by AlainAlam inthe witnesses teach that the "unrighteous" are brought back to life in order to learn about god during the 1000-year reign.
i don't think that's a bible teaching, for the following reason:.
1) no verse says that.

I'm interested in discussing basic JW doctrines that you believe are unscriptural
by AlainAlam inbackground info: although i'm an apostate, i don't hate jehovah's witnesses, or the organization itself.
actually i find that many derogatory comments here are extremely biased.
i think most of them are amazing people, and i wish more non-witnesses were like them.

Virtually every doctrine unique to JWs doesn't hold up when examined anywhere but their own controlled setting. A prime example would be one you mentioned, the 'paradise earth'.
The same goes for 'the last days' and many more

Happy 20th Birthday to JWD / JWN
by Simon inas sgt pepper sang, "it was 20 years ago today" ... that i made my first post on my first forum.. i obviously didn't put too much thought into what it should say although i must have burned 45 posts testing things and was too lazy to reset the counter before going live (?):.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/46/welcome.
but somehow, it worked and grew and here we all are, 20 years on.

Happy birthday, now who's head are we gonna cut off?
But seriously, thanks for the site, not only is it a very valuable resource of information, both past and ongoing, but also a great source of, er, 'good association' for us lonely PIMOs

Whatever happened to tv.jw.org
by cognitivedizzy inlooks like they pulled the plug on the streaming service 24/7 .

They still stream 24/7 with an ever growing rotating schedule, only not accessible through a browser anymore, now only through Roku, Amazon and Apple apps. Individual videos can still be downloaded from JWdotORG though.

Dead Sea Scrolls FORGERIES at Bible museum (scandal)
by Terry inhttps://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/2020/03/museum-of-the-bible-dead-sea-scrolls-forgeries/ independent researchers funded by the museum of the bible announced that all 16 of the museum’s dead sea scroll fragments are modern forgeries.
the museum ceo exclaimed, “we’re victims—we’re victims of misrepresentation, we’re victims of fraud.” the pieces are probably made of ancient leather, they were inked in modern times and modified to resemble real dead sea scrolls; all with the intention of deceiving for profit.
the researcher's report’s findings raise grave questions about the “post-2002” dead sea scroll fragments, a group of some 70 snippets of biblical text that entered the antiquities market in the 2000's.

So you didn't read the post then:
It's saying that the originals were replaced with a forgery at some point, and they're not the same.

by neat blue dog inhttps://www.sltrib.com/religion/2020/03/07/lds-church-discloses/.
it turns out the lds church has about $38b in stocks and mutual funds from major companies such as apple, microsoft, amazon, walmart and others.
they also have numerous dummy corporations to hold assests with a combined value of $32b.

Of course it dipped, but markets rise and fall, even significantly. Long term will be fine.

Those are excellent points SBF that throw a whole different light on it, thanks.
Still I wish there were some more concrete recent records of WTs stock holdings.

It turns out the LDS church has about $38b in stocks and mutual funds from major companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart and others. They also have numerous dummy corporations to hold assests with a combined value of $32b. That's about $70 billion, with a "b", not counting all their property.
Makes me wonder if the wealth of the WTS hasn't been severely underestimated? If so, then all these lawsuits won't make a real dent. Unless they aren't as good at investing as Mormons. Have there been any concrete leaks to show the actual value of WT holdings, both in stock and banks?

Anyone have a copy of that JW poem about a child who doesn't survive Armageddon?
by Bleep Bloop ini think it was called "a mother's thoughts.
" it was a rather dreadful poem written from the viewpoint of a mom a few weeks after armageddon, reminiscing about her child that didn't survive.
in one part, the rebellious kid says, "i can take care of myself in snow, sleet or rain.

Never came across that, but it sounds morbid.
